Browband Sizes

Browbands are available in any length - we make them up ourselves so can make any size. As a general guide the standard sizes are as follows:

Browband Widths

Our standard browband width is 3/4" (19mm), which we have found to be the best size for most of our designs. Some designs can also be made up on either a 1/2" (12mm) or 5/8" (15mm) band, especially suited to foal browbands, or a 1" (25mm) width, suitable for chequerboard designs and most other designs where more impact is required. There is no extra charge for different widths. The table below shows the suitability of the various designs for the different width browbands.

The width will slightly affect the finished design, i.e. sharkstooth will appear slightly narrower on a 1" band, and wider on a 1/2" band. We are always happy to make up samples on different widths if they are not already shown on our website.

Please note that the width stated is the actual width of the browband; velvet ribbon obviously adds fractionally to the width of the finished item. For example the finished width of a velvet browband on a 3/4" band will be just under 7/8". This is a tiny difference of between 1/16" and 1/8", but we would like to point out the obvious to avoid any confusion!
