The Art of Browbands!

Terms and Conditions & How to Order

Placing an order for a Horseplay Browband couldn't be simpler! We recommend that you measure an existing browband before placing an order, to make sure that you have the right size. We make all our browbands to order, so we will always have the right size for you.

We are now using PVC browbands as standard, which have been used for some time by the major Australian manufacturers. We have trialled these and found them to be exceptionally good; the PVC is ideal for ribbon browbands as it does not need oiling, and also there is no risk of the leather dye staining the browband ribbon should it become wet. All browbands are hand-made to order, so we will always have the right size available, from the smallest to the largest!

Currently we are still holding a small stock of leather browbands should you prefer; if you would like to add a note to your order or email us separately, we will be happy to substitute a leather band if we have the right size in stock. Occasionally we may substitute a leather browband for non-standard width browbands if we do not have the PVC in stock.

Browband Widths

The standard width for most of our browbands is 3/4", apart from the standard checker range which are made on the wider 1". Most browbands can be made up on the wider band if preferred, please email us if you prefer the wider option and we will advise.

Please note that the width refers to the width of the actual browband that the ribbon is woven onto. Where velvet ribbon is used, the width of the finished browband is fractionally increased. For example the finished width of a velvet browband on a 3/4" band will be just under 7/8", and on a 1" browband the finished width is around 1 1/8". This is a tiny difference of between 1/16" and 1/8", but we would like to point out the obvious to avoid any confusion!

Orders by E-mail

If you would like a browband made-up that is not shown on our site, i.e. a custom order, just email us at sales@horseplay.biz. Please let us have as much information as possible, size, colours, velvet/satin, crystal detailing etc. so that we can help as quickly as possible. We can help with choosing colours and designs too, so if you only have a rough idea - that's fine too! We aim to answer all e-mails within 24 hours.

Delivery Times

Most orders are on a "made-to-order" basis, and we aim to complete and send out your order within 7 working days, if not sooner. 90% of our orders go out within this time. During peak show seasons (generally April-July) and during the run-up to Christmas, orders can take a little longer, but we will always try to advise immediately if that is the case, and in any case we try to advise approximate delivery times on the right-hand side column of most of the website pages. We do also hold a small stock for immediate despatch in selected popular designs and colours. Urgent orders can sometimes be made-up for quicker despatch - please e-mail first if your order is urgent or you have a deadline, and we will try our best to help (please see below for information on Special Delivery postage).

UK P&P

All UK orders are sent by 1st class recorded delivery post, in protective packaging to ensure that they reach you in perfect condition. We really need one day to make up your browband and ensure that everything is finished properly, and orders need to be posted on Thursdays before 4:30pm on Thursdays for Friday delivery. The Special Delivery service is only guaranteed for weekdays, but it is worth noting that in our experience deliveries have been made to customers on Saturdays. Guaranteed Saturday delivery by Special Delivery is also now available, for which Royal Mail charge an additional £2 on top of their normal Special delivery rates. We do keep our rates as low as possible, only charging at cost; normal P&P rates are as shown below:

Returns and exchanges.

We have an excellent customer service record; your business is important to us and we want you to be happy with your purchase. In the unlikely event that you are not happy with the quality of your order, or we have made a mistake (it hasn't happened yet!), we will issue a full refund, providing that you notify us within 7 days of receipt of goods, and that they are returned to us unused, unsoiled and in the original packaging. We are not liable for returned items that are lost in the post - please ensure that you use the correct postage option should you need to make a claim with Royal Mail. It is essential that you check your browband size before ordering, preferably by measuring an existing browband. Returns will not be accepted because they are the wrong size. Similarly please ensure that you are happy with the browband width option that you have selected - see above. Orders that are made up in a non-standard style, i.e. different flags/rosette styles are non-returnable. Returns for any other reason will be solely at our discretion, and if accepted will be subject to a 30% handling fee. Trade orders are not included in our standard refund policy.
